Bargain Hunting in New York 11.25.09

As I promised last week, that I would give ideas and suggestions on where to shop and when to shop in the ever expensive New York. Here I am again…
Depending on the look you’re going for, whether it’s urban, or more sophisticated, choose your clothing store wisely. For an urban or a contemporary look, you obviously have your favorite stores that you go to, but once in a while its good to change stores and locations and check out other places that might have a sale going on. Stores such as Urban Outfitters, on 6th Avenue and 14th street, always has a sale on the lower level of the store. Whereas, the one in SoHo, on Houston and Broadway usually doesn’t offer sales (maybe seasonal only).
Clothing stores that offer a more high-end but affordable looks, such as GAP, always have a clearance section. The one on 7th Avenue and 42nd Street, has a clearance section (for women) on the upper level of the building. As for the one on 8th Ave. and 23rd Street rarely has any sales at all.
Also, check out on your favorite stores’ websites for new locations coming near you. Most retail stores have a grand opening sale, such as GAP and Banana Republic that just opened in SoHo on Broadway, had a 30% off discount on all items.
Hope these tidbits helped a lot and check out for a new bargaining post next week.

  1. Also unless they’ve changed the way they do things in the Gap Wednesday’s is when they take mark downs during the week.
